Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Jen Pecherek
My name is Mrs. Jen Pecherek. I am beginning my 25th year here at Saint Jude School. I have taught students in PreK, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades. I hold a B.S.Degree and teaching certification in Elementary Education, specializing in English. I am also working on my Master's Degree.
There is a poster hanging in my classroom that reflects how I view teaching and it says "Teachers who love teaching, teach children to love learning". My students know I love to teach, genuinely like them, and have a very positive classroom environment. I try to make every day enjoyable, educational, and interesting. This summer, several teachers and I joined a teacher book club revolving around the book Teach Like a Pirate by Dave Burgess. It is a book that helps a teacher “increase student engagement, boost your creativity, and transform your life as an educator." PIRATE actually stands for passion, immersion, rapport, ask and analyze, transformation, and enthusiasm. It shows ways for crafting engaging lessons that ‘hook’ each student to help them learn and retain knowledge. Although I do some of the activities listed, there are many more that I’m going to try this coming school year. As I tell the students, teachers are always learning things just like they are.
I am grateful to be a part of the spiritual and educational community at St. Jude School as a 3rd grade teacher, as a stage manager/ co-director of our school plays and summer theater camp, and as a cantor for Sunday masses and our school music ministry.
